Good morning everyone, I am excited to be here and curious to learn more from (and alongside) all of you! I have been working deeply with psychedelics for many years although I've only tried 5 recently, roughly seven months ago. Aside from being comfortable with 'surrendering' to experience from past plant medicine work, nothing that came before this could have prepared me for the sheer immensity and beauty of the 5 experience. What a gift that you have all created here, in this 5 Hive, thank you!  _/|\_

Welcome to the 5 Hive noodlebowl!

So wonderful to have you here and look forward to the conversations that you will bring and contribute to!

5 is truly a unique experience, some might even argue that it is almost in its own class of molecule.

Good morning and thank you for the kind welcome, Handshake! I am one of those people who feels that 5 is in an entirely different class, in terms of the mental phenomenology. Physically it feels like a tryptamine to me, but that seems to be where the similarity ends.  ^-^

I share your observations, noodlebowl.  Yes, the sensation of being lifted into a Tryptamine state is there but lacking the kaleidoscopic visual elements.  James Orac, may he rest in peace, equates this to the chakra activation triggered by the entheogenic sacrement.  In his epic book, Tryptamine Palace, James emphatically states that psilocybin, LSD and N,N-DMT are phenomena occurring within the field of the 6th chakra and 5-MeO-DMT within the realm of of the 7th chakra.  While this perspective is rather simplistic in scope, I feel that it is essentially true. That said, my first 7th chakra experience occured in 1978, under the enigmatic effects of LSD.  This happened before I had any knowledge of kundalini or the chakra system espoused by Indian thought within the systems of yoga and tantra.  So, it's certainly an oversimplification on James' part. What is clear, is that the major difference between 5-MeO-DMT and other tryptamines, is that with Five, one's subjectivity dissolved as the molecule brings the traveler into the nondual state.
There is no self to which I cling, for I am one with everything.
