Disclaimer: First of all, please pardon my rather crude and grim sense of humor...

Dear people, fellow travelers and otherwordly beings,

my name is Jerry, you might know me as the vagina guy.

So I've stumbled upon a rather interesting topic over at Leo Gura's site, of which the title is:

"5-MeO-DMT for highly suicidal people?"

The first post says the following:

QuoteA distant friend of our family recently took his life due to years of depression. Apparently, he saw his own suicide as the only possible solution. Hypothesis: Wouldn't it make sense to treat highly suicidal people with 5-Meo-DMT? I mean, if they are so depressed that they are going to take their life anyway, why not try to get them back on track with psychedelics?

In one of Leo's recent videos he's said something, in my opinion, very profound that immediately resonated with me:

"The moment when you die, you will dissolve into infinity from which you came and that will be one of the most beautiful experiences you have ever had...I've had this experience, multiple times"

Well, I, too, have been there multiple times, so what intrigued me about the discussion, and the reason why I've registered here and there an account, is that I'd like to chime in.

A thought has crossed my mind, after reading another thread over at the DMT-Nexus which is titled "Practicing Death (with 5-MeO-DMT)".

So basically I've died numerous times, I wouldn't consider myself to be suicidal or even depressed, maybe a little bit frustrated with literally everything that's going on in the world right now and maybe also a little bit fed up.

But most importantly I'm curious and I often wonder and contemplate, especially after being put back to pieces, and somehow every time I come back I'm even more fascinated by the blissful moments I've experienced just some minutes ago which didn't feel like minutes at all, rather like an eternity.

Regarding the quoted post, what I'm trying to say is, what if 5-MeO-DMT, in some cases, could prevent someone from committing suicide, but in others make them think about, well, let's call it, relocating? Like finding the perfect place to live.

I'm deeply sorry, if I by any means have disturbed you with my introduction, that really wasn't my intention.

I wish you all a nice day and safe travels!

Before I took DMT and 5MEO-DMT I felt like I was at the end of my rope and really didn't care whether Id die or not, in fact i was looking forward to it.
So, yeah, dying is not a bad thing. In fact its great. And it also helps you surrender to what IS, and appreciate life much more.

I think the logic here is that it can't hurt, because they will kill themselves anyways. That relies on the assumption that they truly would kill themselves, which is difficult to truly know. I think it is difficult to know the limit of the depths of depression one can tolerate in some circumstances, especially while in the midst of it (as depression causes strong thought distortion).

Also, as much of the use of 5-MeO-DMT is not out in the open or with practitioners, there will presumably be a large survivor bias in anecdotes.

I think the research into treatment of depression using other compounds such ketamine and mushrooms (4-HO-DMT) might be more instructive.

I don't respect Leo Gura.

He describes 5-meo-dmt as "The magic pill to enlightenment and God" (in his own words).

He also elsewhere states that he has "had several samadhi [ultimate enlightenment] experiences" and that none of them come close to the 5-meo-dmt experience.

I think that he is both full of himself and full of shit, blindly promoting an agenda, and knows nothing of enlightenment.
