Introductions/Newbies / Re: thank you for existing

Good morning and thank you for the kind welcome, Handshake! I am one of those people who feels that 5 is in an entirely different class, in terms of the mental phenomenology. Physically it feels like a tryptamine to me, but that seems to be where the similarity ends.  ^-^

Welcome to the 5 Hive noodlebowl!

So wonderful to have you here and look forward to the conversations that you will bring and contribute to!

5 is truly a unique experience, some might even argue that it is almost in its own class of molecule.

Good morning everyone, I am excited to be here and curious to learn more from (and alongside) all of you! I have been working deeply with psychedelics for many years although I've only tried 5 recently, roughly seven months ago. Aside from being comfortable with 'surrendering' to experience from past plant medicine work, nothing that came before this could have prepared me for the sheer immensity and beauty of the 5 experience. What a gift that you have all created here, in this 5 Hive, thank you!  _/|\_

Toad Experiences and Testimonials / Re: Lessons & Values from Repe...

Thank you for sharing this so openly. I really appreciate how you're holding both the awe and the humility of the experience. The way you describe the dissolution and then the clarity before reconnecting with your body captures something many people struggle to put into words.

One thing I'd gently offer is that there isn't really a universal timeline for how long "effects last." Some people feel meaningful shifts for years after one session. Others find that the acute memory fades but the deeper reorganization continues in subtle ways. Framing it as "most people need a reminder after a year" can sometimes unintentionally plant an expectation that something is supposed to wear off. In my experience, what endures most reliably is what gets integrated, not what gets repeated.

A lot of people describe that first encounter as climbing the mountain. Subsequent sessions, when they happen, often feel less like going higher and more like seeing the same landscape from a different angle. Sometimes that brings new insight. Sometimes it simply confirms what was already known. And sometimes it becomes clear that the real work is happening in ordinary life, not in returning to the peak.

I really resonate with your question of "What now?" That's often the most important phase. If there's no sense of need, that's actually a very grounded place to be. The impulse to repeat can come from devotion, curiosity, avoidance, habit, or genuine calling. It can take some honest self-inquiry to discern which is operating.

Some people who revisit do so with very specific intentions around patterns they've noticed resurfacing. Others find that repetition doesn't add much and instead deepen their practice through therapy, community, service, or contemplative work. There isn't a right answer.

If you never do it again and feel complete, that's valid. If you return in a year and it feels aligned and intentional, that's valid too. The more interesting question, in my view, is how the experience is shaping how you relate to others, to your nervous system, to your values, and to your daily life.

Curious what shifts, if any, you've noticed in how you move through the world.

You raise quite a valid point, Handshake and I share your trepidation.  Honestly, I have mixed feelings  about the medical & psychiatric industry controlling people's access to entheogenic medicines.  Big pharma has one primary object and frankly,  that is $$$ profits.  But I also believe that for troubled souls moving beyond long standing traumas and psychological imbalances, and legitimizing of the sacred molecules is a step in the right direction.  A friend of mine is a practicing psychologist who is trained in administering MDMA, psilocybin and most recently 5-MeO-DMT, and now offers sessions to his patients.  But I do kind of object to those who've taken to this calling and practice, to require their patients to pay the exorbitant fees that anylists require, simply to experience the Divine and touch the infinite quintessence.  Just sayin'   _/|\_

Thanks for posting this. I find it interesting too. At the same time, I sometimes wonder whether it's really the studies that legitimize the molecule, or whether it's the long-standing relationships people have had with it that have inspired researchers to finally take it seriously.

Hello! My name is Ekaterina! I'm a ceramist.

Inside me, deep down, there's a huge, dark toad that only I can see. It sits on the ground, heavy and monumental, and with a somber silence, it eats a mouse, devouring it whole, without haste. Its glands contain psychotropic poison, and its eyes reflect the chaos of the universe. Sometimes, I feel like I'm creating a self-portrait. It was very difficult for me to sculpt her because of the insomnia that plagued me at the time. I created this toad very systematically and carefully, piece by piece, over the course of two months. It contains a large part of me: dark, slow-moving, lonely, but also wise, abundant, and beautiful...
