Thanks for taking the time to make this video and put yourself out there to the world. The overhead perspective really highlights the symmetry of your movements.

I hope you're not getting too caught up with this though. I can relate to it while watching, but if this was shown to an average person learning more about 5-MeO-DMT (perhaps because their partner mentioned it or something, not direct interest) it would probably be both disturbing and concerning. Trying to crowdfund and promote this type of videos seems a little strange to me.

I don't think there are too many active toad owners here, but I could be wrong. There's a few active users on Reddit that own them.

You can use the search function to find information on this forum, but I don't think you'll end up with very much. After all, a lot of talk about caring for toads would probably encourage people to buy or sell wild toads (or otherwise interfere with them rather than using synthetic 5-MeO-DMT). I doubt many people would object to owning a happy toad from a supplier who breeds them in captivity, but I think it's fair to say that there is a bit of a taboo surrounding owning a toad.

I think Spinoza has some interesting ideas about God without requiring more than an interpretation of the physical world. I was raised quite religious, and my rejection of it seems to have left a void. I haven't had to truly suspend disbelief to consider his ideas, so I thought I might mention it. Good luck.

There's a decent summary in Anadenanthera: Visionary Plant of Ancient South America. The full text is available here: https://the-eye.eu/public/concen.org/Entheogens%20Psychedelic%20Shamanism%20LSD%20DMT%20Psilocybin%20Cannabis/FILES/DMT%20Anadenanthera%20Visionary%20Plant%20of%20Ancient%20South%20America%20by%20Torres%20Repke.pdf

It appears all analyses indicate bufotenine as the only concentrated alkaloid in seeds. Some indicate a higher weight % of DMT or 5-MeO-DMT in low quantities, but I don't think that is relevant... these are seed preparations not extracts after all.

It would be interesting to have your material analyzed.

hi,

it is a bit like cooking in 2 different pots, the substances donĀ“t mix up, they work from different places, so no danger.

I don't see the basis for your analogy. Sounds superstitious.

Why would oral + MAOI be more dangerous than rectal + MAOI?

Generally oral ingestion of a substance goes through the liver and is broken down/converted, while rectal administration may or may not go through the liver.

I don't know all the details, but from reading up on using cannabis oil suppositories, it depends on how deep you administer.

If you stay in the first 1.5inches or so of the rectum, the substance does not get routed through the liver, but if you insert deeper, the substance may indeed be routed through the liver.

I don't know if this affects 5+maoi combinations at all, but I think that's the main difference between oral and rectal administration.

OK, but that doesn't say too much about safety (as you acknowledge).

The peak concentrations of metabolites is probably lower if first pass metabolism is avoided (and obviously lower doses are required), but what bearing does that have for safety? The metabolites of 5-MeO-DMT are a complicating factor, especially given the impact of enzyme polymorphism (e.g. 5-OH-DMT as a metabolite), but I haven't seen anything to suggest that rectal + MAOI is somehow fundamentally more safe than oral or vaporized + MAOI. Some people seem to handle it fine, other don't (to put it lightly).

Quote from: celestino on June 12, 2019, 01:19:03 PMthe danger is if 5 is taken orally with maoi , NOT RECTALLY.

Why would oral + MAOI be more dangerous than rectal + MAOI? If it was similarly dangerous, I would expect no reports of fatalities or permanent effects due to the lack of popularity, as less people administer rectally than orally and even fewer combine rectal with an MAOI. It wouldn't make sense if someone said administering intravenously with an MAOI was very safe on the basis of lack of evidence either, would it?

Also, isn't yopo dominantly bufotenine?

Hello Omnislug. Thank you for your introduction.

The details of Phalaris stories are always interesting. I wonder how many still consider Phalaris "the way of the future".

Quote from: HumbleVoyager on January 24, 2019, 08:42:03 PMThis sums it up really well.

Yeah, not to mention that Google Trends diagram is clearly noise. I guess I was convinced the first actual signal was going to come into existence rather than assuming an imperfect extrapolation algorithm poorly suited to this sort of noise. The birth of a new era marked by signal registering on Google Trends... the first light. Ha ha ha ha ha.

I'll edit out a bunch of that original post. It shouldn't occupy people's attention.

Thanks RoundAbout!

Yeah, to turn a freebase into any salt form, you just add the acid you want it to be the salt of.
For example, for the acetate salt, add acetic acid (vinegar). For the citrate salt, add citric acid (vitamin C). For the HCl salt, add hydrochloric acid.
Vitamin C is ascorbic acid, citric acid is different. Sorry for nit-picking  :P

Yes, but it seems the trick people are suggesting is adding a small volume of concentrated acid into alcohol that contains the freebase... ultimately obtaining the crystalline alkaloid salt. I think some of those acids (e.g. citric) would crystallize if complete evaporation was used rather than precipitating the DMT salt from a low solubility solvent. (HCl and acetic acids should evaporate though I think.) I wonder how much of the alkaloid is retained in the alcohol though... I haven't read much about the solubility of DMT salts in various solvents other than for the fumarate (for FASA), let alone 5-MeO-DMT.

I'm not in a position where I'm comfortable contributing a lot, but I suppose many small contributions will reach the same goal.

Taking the time to type this out is a complete over-investment in this topic. I watched a couple YouTube videos in the background and felt compelled to write a forum post for some reason; probably not a good reason. I don't like drug use in pop culture and excessively self-interested people. That's pretty much it.

Quote from: physics envy on January 18, 2019, 02:20:33 PMI'm curious to hear more specifically about 'the presentation' that you do not like.

OK. If this was a private conversation, I think it was a great discussion. But these are profitable/valuable entertainment programs with their popularity somewhat connected to people looking up to and respecting the hosts. Tyson is also hosting a doctor whose business is based on this drug. They should be held to a higher standard. In my opinion:

I don't appreciate calling 5-MeO-DMT use courageous and ballsy, especially in a conversation with someone as idolized as Mike Tyson.

I don't think it's appropriate for someone (i.e. Dr. Gerry) who is in the business of facilitating toad ceremonies to suggest that there are other facilitators who are like 'vampires' that cause trauma to people and give them PTSD until he heals them. Despite this he says that he hasn't met a person who hasn't benefited from it. He also recommends facilitators have at least 10 years experience with a degree in the medical field... this is a thinly veiled way of saying: A facilitator is required, and the requirements for this role make me one of the only people qualified for this role, and if you give your business to other people you're taking a risk of developing psychological disorders or dying. Fortunately he now has the right amount of experience... go figure huh.

Quote from: physics envy on January 18, 2019, 02:20:33 PM"Seems to be a savvy, well timed attempt to gain attention"

Do you mean by Tyson specifically?  If so, I agree that may have been intentional by whomever is really behind the Hotboxin' podcast.

Tyson stated in his own podcast that he wasn't intending to use it, and it seemed genuine. He also reflected on his history of drug use, and how him impulsively using 5-MeO-DMT seemed to fit into that. Episode #1 of the podcast was with Dr. Gerry. I think someone put two and two together and thought that Mike would likely use it and appreciate it, and the whole experience would generate interest in the podcast. I agree that Tyson probably brought it up in good faith on the Joe Rogan podcast.

Mike Tyson started a podcast titled: Hotboxin' with Mike. In one of the first few episodes he features Dr. Gerry, uses toad venom off camera, then comes back and reflects positively on the experience. Apparently he used it a couple months ago, and uploaded the podcast Jan 15, 2019.

He came on the Joe Rogan Experience, the only vocal proponent 5-MeO-DMT and DMT user in popular culture I can think of, on Jan 17, 2019. They discuss DMT, bring up Kanye using DMT, and encourage use in general.

I have a feeling there is going to be an increase in interest due these sorts of well-timed media appearances. The popular author Michael Pollan wrote about his experiences with it recently too... went on Joe Rogan to discuss it also. 5-MeO and DMT in general may be be starting to gain general recognition.

The forum is as alive as those who participate in it. We are a community coming together and hopefully in time more people from the Nexus will come over here and continue discussions. This is an open space for people to make it what it is.

As long as the lights are still on.

I recently did the opposite and migrated to the Nexus after failing to acquire 5-MeO-DMT over an extended period, after a series of delays brought only more promises. I've now begun exploring DMT, and lo and behold there is 5-MeO-DMT oxalate floating around. If only I had been more patient. Unfortunately the principle of patience now suggests I should continue what I started.

I can't imagine psychedelics becoming less popular, or that one of the most powerful of the psychedelics will fade into obscurity. I hope I'll be back with experience some time in the future, and I hope this forum will still exist.  <3

Science / Re: Omega Brainwave Activity

Quote from: Rising Spirit on November 01, 2018, 01:10:24 PMI like to note that from the onset of the acceptance of the science of EEG, way back in 1959, much has unfolded. Even gamma wave research had to be built by expanding the criteria in selecting participants to study.  Yogins and Buddhist monks have contributed a good deal to what we have gleaned above higher brain functioning.

...

Often, said truth is only a mystery until new discovery brings light to breakthroughs in our collective understanding.  It's exciting to think about the burgeoning advances in our present technology, isn't it?  The best is yet to come!
Yes, it is exciting. I do wonder if the phenomenon you're describing has a structural basis rather than a new brainwave frequency... which might make fMRI, PET or MEG more suitable. The equipment for these are in general more difficult to get access to and far more expensive... which might mean less research into this topic using these techniques. Obviously, I have no idea and I'm not familiar with the literature.

I'll revisit the topics in those links at a later time; I don't think it would be fruitful for me currently. As an aside, I am highly skeptical of unfamiliar techniques which require purchased resources from the same site explaining the concepts (as there is a strong conflict of interest). I recently began meditating (with guidance)... maybe it will make this type of discussions more comprehensible if I am dedicated to the practice.

Edit: Perhaps if the "Like" function was changed to "Thank" it would be more useful.
