I think if you are familiar with and can 'ride' the transition into Salvia-land, then you would be reasonably experienced enough to take the 5-MeO path.
The HcL vapourises well enough and I think the suggestion that it doesn't is one made in comparison to freebase. The slowly and gently approach sounds like the way to go here in order to acclimatise to the space and the way it 'comes on' given that this is a point of concern.
