Ethics and Ecology / Calling out / Calling in
March 04, 2022, 08:25:48 PM
What is a good way to call out, or call in, an unethical practitioner in an unregulated field?  The intention would be to reduce potential harm to future clients.

There are some cases where speaking to a practitioner 1:1 would not result in any shift in course.  On another end, something like writing a public letter could have personal risks for the complainant, yet possibly the most impact.

Thoughts? Experiences?
Any updates?  :)
OMG I was so naive... apparently there's a fair bit of this kind of thing going on.

I was surprised to come across this private company doing a clinical study on the use of 5-MeO-DMT for treating treatment-resistant depression.  It looks like they're seeking to patent a certain Route of Administration.  No mention of it being an adjunct to psychotherapy.

GH Research Ltd. Announces Completion of Phase 1 Clinical Study with GH001 (5-Methoxy-N,N-Dimethyltryptamine) in Healthy Volunteers and Updates on Further Progress
A comparison of reactivation experiences following vaporization and intramuscular injection (IM) of synthetic 5-methoxy-N,N-dimethyltryptamine (5-MeO-DMT) in a naturalistic setting

Presentation discussing the results of the study:  Vaporization or intramuscular injection of synthetic 5-MeO-DMT

A small survey study, in which respondents who used the IM ROA were less likely to experience reactivations.  While I don't see this in the paper, in the video one of the authors theorizes that this may be due to the slower onset of the effect, which would be less shocking to the nervous system than the quick onset from vaporization.  It definitely makes me more curious about non-vaporization ROAs in general.

I also wonder if doing a handshake dose before a flood dose would decrease the chance/frequency of reactivations, as your nervous system would have a chance to feel into the effects of the molecule a bit more gently?  Anecdotally, of the dozen or so people I know that met the molecule through a handshake dose initially, none experienced large, ongoing reactivations.

My reactivations have been fairly mild... I do find that for sleeplessness in general that a weighted blanket helps me... even if I'm not sleeping, it provides a feeling of containment that makes it easier to rest.  That, along with the usual sleep hygiene techniques.  Good luck!

Would it be possible to get an email digest of new posts once a week?

Hello!  :)

Just checking things out, curious to learn more about this fascinating medicine and to hear others accounts of it.  I've experienced both bufo and the synthetic molecule, and now only use the synthetic.  While I'm grateful for the breakthrough experiences, I tend to gravitate towards lower doses for therapeutic use - they really help me to reconnect with my heart, and to release thoughts/beliefs/tensions that get in the way.  So far this has all been through vaping; I am curious to try an alternate ROA at some point.  I'm grateful to have friends who share a fondness for this molecule, as we are able to hold space for each other.
