Title: Transcendence and dissociation with tryptamines, K, Salvia, and others
Post by: free-range on July 02, 2017, 01:02:30 PM
I have been chewing on this line from Ralph Metzner for some time:
"...transcendence is conscious dissociation and dissociation is unconscious transcendence."

Following the idea I borrow from James Oroc: that 5 is operating/functioning/acting at the crown energy centre, outside of the physical body but within the energetic body (hence, it is 'felt'), an ungrounded energy by it's very nature. I have always wondered, then, where other substances that can lead to transcendence or dissociation function? Some describe that Salvia is perhaps functioning also outside of the physical body, but it is at an energy centre that is down past the root energy centre, grounded, or 'below'. Transcendence or dissociation with K seems to be something more horizontal for some.

What are some thoughts about the nature of dissociation with these substances?

I would agree with Ralph and James. There really is more of a conscious transcendence with 5-MeO-DMT than there is with ketamine, for example. Although I would say that the ketamine experience might prepare some for the type of dissociative ego dissolution that can happen on 5-MeO-DMT. The main difference is that with ketamine, there isn't much capacity for fear while with 5-MeO-DMT there is. Ketamine also has this alluring quality, playing the game where you think you got it, and then you come out of it and forget and then wanting to go back in. It can happen with 5-MeO-DMT as well, but it seems that it happens less so.

Salvia is a strange beast altogether. I have very little experience with it so I can't comment much!

Where does this quote come from?
