Introductions/Newbies / Re: Hello
January 24, 2018, 02:59:47 AM
Hiya James,

Great to have you over here and I look forward to your contributions... also much respect for recognising those opportunities with Martin, Gerry, and others as as somehow 'not the right time'., this takes a finely tuned intuition and well-developed level of discernment that I have seen many unable or unwilling to apply in such situations. Anyway, thank you for all that you do for the psychedelic community at large :)

Hi Julian,

Thanks for checking us out, love the blog and really enjoyed your book... I like to recommend it to people just beginning this path and those in deepening their relationship with psychedelic substances and looking to explore the potentialities a little further,

Well this got my attention... (although I cannot imagine anyone having enough 5-MeO-DMT to explore this on anything other than a micro scale;

" Alexander Shulgin has explained that it could be possible to cultivate 4-HO-5-MeO-DMT in psilocybin mushrooms by adding 5-MeO-DMT to the growing substrate of the fungus".

Wow, thanks HV; what an information rich image - an on my phone so really can't get much from it- so will check it out in detail later. What is the name of the text ?

Virola has sufficient quantities of n-n-DMT as well, so how would one go about separating the two without complex lab equipment or procedure ?

The overwhelming somatic aspect of the 5-MeO-DMT (and other psychedelic medicine) experience is something that I continue to attempt to understand in some way in order to harness, utilise and apply the experience and concept to everyday life somehow. So much focus is given to the psychological aspects of psychedelics and little to the kinetically sensory facets. As 5-MeO-DMT is unique in its targeting, aligning, clearing and releasing of what is often perceived as 'the energetic body' and exhibits time and time again a fury of energy either pouring through the physical bodily vessel or arising out of it, it seems to me only causal that many individuals would interpret their experiences through the concept of Kundalini (awakening or otherwise).

I hear the term Kundalini so often and used in many different ways and contexts, it can often seems like an ambiguous 'new-agey' marketing variation on other practices like Yoga, Tantra and the like. Yet nonetheless, I have visualised, felt and witnessed in others what appears to quite specifically be a rising of a serpentine like energy from the base of the spine (which is about as far as my knowledge and understanding of the phenomenon extends).

I would like to start this thread with some resources that may help to build a common framework for what Kundalini is in the context of the psychedelic experience, and of course particularly 5-MeO-DMT to subsequently gather knowledge about the intersection between the two. I therefore extend a welcome to forum members better versed, studied or practised in the Kundalini phenomenon, (its traditional/mythological origins, theoretical applications, and disciplinary devotions) to contribute to this understanding ...or for anyone to simply share any anecdotal experiences.

What part of Oz are you from? Did you know that Dr Gerry was here a few months ago (Canberra & Melbourne) ?

Also look for a chapter of The Australian Psychedelic Society in your area.

all the best,

Thank you Rising Spirit for sharing your thoughts and ideas on this,

As a key aspect of the classic mystical state and indeed one of 9 quantifiable factors of according to Walter Pahnke's (1963;1969)Mystical Experience; being; "unity, transcendence of time and space, deeply felt positive mood, sense of sacredness, noetic quality, paradoxicality, alleged ineffability, transiency, and persisting positive changes in attitudes and behaviours". The qualifier of 'alleged' though strikes me as odd...are they suggesting that people are just not trying hard enough ? or are feigning ineffability to avoid the complexity and demands of the task itself? Why does 'alleged' sit before this particular quality and none of the other 9 factors ?

The 'pre' and 'post' liminal stages of the 5-MeO experience are indeed a critical phase of the journey and perhaps a somewhat overlooked one in its value and significance. I like Victor Turner's (1967) description of the three phases of ritual experience: the pre-stage being 'separation' and the 3rd 're-assimilation' of the self into its subject/object dichotomy with this ineffable liminality lying betwixt the two. Equally pertinent and influential on this model was Van Gennep's (1906) observation of liminal states during Rites of Passage, as Toad ceremony participants are often described as 'initiates' before their introduction tot his medicine
Also, as much as 'inside and outside' boundaries of mind and matter are illusory (albeit persistent), this is where human meaning is made, where we transform what we have seen and felt and perceive as having value... and attempt to translate it into an verbal, visual, auditory or kinetic articulation, rendering the mystical 'real', 'tangible' and 'verifiable'....and this powerful creative impulse is the eternal engine that has driven human culture forward in its relatively short history. I often feel that the creative impulse is in essence spirit expressing itself through us and (in most cases), with a little technical training and practice we are able to enter a flow state in which the normal blockages of conditioned thought and behaviour are suspended in favour of something more true to our authentic, inner being... and we hope that as a result others may gain pleasure in these articulations as they recognise the core and universal truth in our expressions.

Ineffability is merely a challenge for us to find common language for, and maps of the mystical experience. I also find it an interesting phenomenon that the closer we get to the pure non-dual, Samadhi, Brahman Godhead state, the simpler and more collectively common the language becomes; god, love, all, one, etc. perhaps this is just the way human language is coded but it points to the universally translatable feeling of this state, not by way of its ineffability (seemingly a 'side-effect' of the experience itself) but by the merit of the grace and gnosis felt and gleaned there.
One attempt of mine to articulate the ineffability of 5-MeO-DMT is my poem here:,50358.msg53910.html#msg53910

Also some interesting articles around this

kindest regards good sir :)

So Guru, have you had successful yields of n-n with Mimosa or Acacia using ISO and Sodium carbonate. I would think and the anecdotal research seems to bear this out that Na2CO3 simply does not raise the pH high enough especially for mimosa where in the lye is need to break down the plant matter ?

Thanks Jamie for this incredibly valuable contribution... This method makes Phalaris extraction look relatively straight forward with an achievable result.

A robust community discussion on the role, importance and shape of 5-MeO-DMT in modern culture from the Somara Shamanic Medicine Forum, Feb, 2016. hosted by Rak Razam with guests Shannon Kempster, Maya Waken, Dean Jefferys, Dan Schreiber and Jewelli Deva.

What is the connection between the Mexican Sonoran desert toad and the legendary yagé of Amazonian tribes? What role does bufotenine play in the 5-MeO neurochemical cocktail in plants and toads? Unified field. Source consciousness. Home: what celestial cartography do these catalysts reveal? Is this the return of DreaMTime consciousness? Are there any significant differences between synthetic and organic 5-MeO, or plant-based and toad-based 5-MeO? Do repeated doses of 5-MeO make one more sensitive to the medicine and to the ceremony of life itself? How do we keep open the endogenous pathways that the medicine can reveal? Recorded and shared by Kent Holloway. With thanks to Somara:

Thanks JBArk -I like this idea as I use it a lot at the Nexus too :)
Humble Voyager, thoughts ?
Thank you for sharing this eloquent articulation eternity - my first thought was "I hope you didn't have neighbours to freak out :)"

To me the body's physical reactions are quite fascinating and I often get the rhythmical toe or foot action going too. Some suggest that this is a deep process of aligning the energetic body ('chakras', 'Chi' or 'prana'- much is made of these terms that may or may not be so) and I feel the 5-MeO experience is a direct revelation of such forces at work inside the human vessel. You seem to have had some very powerful and consistent re-activations and have integrated them with wisdom and grace, as they can be quite confronting for some (especially having no fore-warning of such phenomenon). I have found that this intense physical vibration of body precedes the infinite state, as though imbalance is being cleared in order for pure consciousness to flow...after this, the body still moves autonomously or seemingly independent from 'cognitive mind', but the motion is smoother and more fluid like a dance.

QuoteAm I really ready for it, can I really hold something like that, can anyone? why should I do it again? why do I want to go through it again? will it help me? and also very importantly should i recommend it?
All very important questions to posit to oneself. Knowing when you are ready for it again will be a very intuitive gnosis, in order to distinguish itself from the chasing of the experience... increased synchronicity can often be an indicator. The motivation for doing it in turn becomes ones intention going in, which then allows for a focus point and channel for certain lessons to come through in certain areas of our lives, revealing themselves as most pertinent areas of concern for us. It will help you as much as you want it to help and this will be a matter of discerning what medicine suits a particular type of issue at any given point for you and which medicine is presenting itself in response to you being ready.

As to whether one can ever 'hold on to' an experience like that, I think we are inherently attuned towards trying and even though we know we cannot fully articulate the ineffable, the desire to do so is a fundamental driving force behind the creative impulse of humankind. I would suggest that we honour the experience by attempting to stay open to it (this may be part of why re-activations occur), by removing blockages to the flow of 'spirit' or 'pure consciousness' in our lives, by living as honestly, kindly and gently as possible in our interactions with our inner selves, loved ones, strangers, community and the land.
