To be brief, how do we all feel about whether to use a VPN and/ or a Tor browser for the perusing of this forum...

The important factor is where you reside and what the law is there.

Where I am, your political opinion can get you in jail, so I use VPN (which the junta says is illegal to use here) to do so.

However, 5-MeO-DMT is not scheduled, so I use any browser.

If 5-MeO-DMT is illegal where you live, getting informed is probably not, so the question would be "do you have any stash that you don't want the authorities to find?".
If not, you don't really need a VPN. Having virtually no addictive or harmful potential, 5-MeO-DMT is also very low on the cops' list of priorities
