Nice one Child Horus...I really like this :)

Greetings Child Horus and welcome,

A fascinating intersection of fields that you are interested in and feel free to contribute to the Science & Spirituality section or start a topic. I was curious if you have heard of, or read the recently published book by P.D.Newman called; 'Alchemically Stoned: The Psychedelic Secret of Freemasonry '. There have also been a few studies recently (as well as in the 60s) utilising psychedelics to various symptoms of autism and Asperger's which may be of interest.

Good to hear you have found a practitioner - and hopefully one you feel entirely comfortable with. There are several posts here addressing key points in the process of choosing someone to serve this medicine. Remember you are choosing, not only someone to provide a smooth transition to the 'other side', but someone who will provide a conducive space for you to re-enter 'the self' within and safeguard your body while your mind and spirit merge with their source.

cheers,

I guess people's opinions on n-n-DMT dosage levels varies a little more than 5-MeO

I would say 15-20mg is low dose n-n-DMT, 20-50 is medium and 50 plus is a high dose.

Whereas Hals' measurements here are generally agreed upon. There are a few posts here about microscoops or spoons that measure out 1-3mg, 3-7mg, 5-8, 8-10mg, 8-12mg, etc. but micro-scales are really the best option Check out this thread https://forums.5meodmt.org/index.php/topic,50423.msg54451.html#msg54451

Hi Jamie and welcome,

I am fascinated to hear more about your experiments with Phalaris as this is often touted as a viable plant-based source of 5-MeO, but rarely does one hear of individuals having success with extractions. So if there are Beta Carbolines in Phalaris is it orally active (or are the levels too low) and what are the qualitative effects in a brew. Be sure to check out the section Plant Based 5-MeO-DMT Experiences and Testimonials

So what is the connection between Anadenanthera and Bufotenin in relation to Bufo Alvarius as the Mayan Toad ? Interested to hear more about your academic studies particularly relating to Entheogenic Anthropology.

I hope the 5-Hive will be such a venue that you share and learn from too, especially in your capacity to contribute to research around botanical sources of 5-MeO-DMT.

cheers,

gurudedicationananda - only you can decide, as our focus here at the forum is one of harm reduction, we will always err on the side of caution. As previously stated, in absence of a sitter, start small and employ a careful, gradual, incrementally increasing dose. Hal from The Temple of Awakened Divinity has provided a very thorough dosing protocol here https://forums.5meodmt.org/index.php/topic,50588.0.html

Many thanks Hal,
Do you have any more detail on the exact constitution of the other 85% of Venom, particularly these other alkaloids ?

Welcome MagicD,

It is always a delight to see the acceptance of 'un-knowing' expressed so beautifully as I feel this is a central message from these medicines. The qualia of being is a truly wonderful place to reside and most certainly is the key to a fulfilling life experience.

Hi JBArk,

It will be interesting to see if and how the 5-MeO experience affects your rational materialist perspective given its exemplary role as the very epitome of an 'entheogen'.

Hi stabbyrobot,

Welcome. Great to hear that the medicine has had such an impact on your life - the pure joy of providing the 5-Meo experience for an initiate is something I still struggle to articulate. Look forward to seeing how your journey unfolds and your contributions to the community here.

Greetings Hal,

And thanks you for your presence here...we are honoured to have a Grand Heirophant of T.O.A.D here, especially given your mentioned reticence in participating in forums. Great to hear you guys are active as I learnt about your existence some time ago through the Rak Razam podcast and Erowid.

The notion of non-dogmatic spiritual practice is so very pertinent to this medicine as it emerges now and I would like to express my gratitude, respect and admiration for what you do. As a global community of seekers, we have the cultural advantage of not carrying traditional ways of relating to this molecule the way ayahuasca does - and therefore having built something from the 'ground up' as you have is invaluable in allowing the space for people to relate to the medicine, self and spirit in a way that embraces the uniqueness of the individual's ontology.

One of the central topics of concern at this moment is developing a structured 'code of ethics' for 5-MeO-DMT (building on, but distinct from other entheogenic ethical frameworks such as those made for ayahuasca) so that seekers may have some guidance in knowing what to expect from a good practitioner, facilitator or server. We are working on creating a space here dedicated to this development as the wider and more diverse the contribution, the more solid the platform will be. We very much look forward to whatever contributions you feel like making and greatly value you input.

Blessings,

Hi ElevenTwentyTwo,

It's always exciting to see students in all fields of academia wanting to integrate their passion for psychedelics into their studies. I managed to focus my Social Science Hons thesis on ayahuasca and it was an wonderful learning opportunity and amazing process. An Analysis of non-dual states and their effect on our sense of 'self' or 'ego' in relation to 5-meO experiences would be an incredibly valuable addition to the growing research around this medicine. Hi Softmachine,

Welcome - As you would have gathered from Oroc's book, 5-MeO is unique among the tryptamines...just one oxygen molecule at the 5 position and the neuro-chemical key unlocks a whole other door completely :)

Hi Showtime,

Welcome and thanks for the acknowledgement, we hope that the forum here will continue to grow as awareness of this medicine spreads and that the 5-Hive becomes a place where people feel safe and supported in their processes and a repository of knowledge as we learn together.

Gracias,

While the criteria you outlined here are most certainly important factors, I don't think they necessarily preclude practitioners who not fit either category.
The financial motivations of any given practitioner/facilitator is an important factor to consider, one may be gaining recompense for their time and effort with medicine being their primary calling without being  greedy or exploitative.

Secondly while formal psychotherapeutic training is unquestionably of immensely value to this work, there are many who have years of experience navigating interpersonal, transpersonal and metaphysical experiences for others without such qualifications.

We must remember the incipient nature of 5-MeO and the nascent culture that is forming will take a myriad of shapes and forms. What we should focus on are the fundamentals of providing safe space, proper screening, respect for a patients autonomy in decision making and a general 'do no harm' principal that provides optimum support at every stage of the journey from preparation to integration. What we are seeing now is several examples of 'the wrong' way to do it from which we need to acknowledge that there may not be one 'right way' but rather one which adheres to some fundamental principles and ethics...but that embraces the psycho-therapeutic, shamanic and psychonautic diversity in the entheogenic community.
